Services

I work across the architecture stack, from business capability down to platform decisions. Most engagements touch more than one of the areas below. Each can be scoped as a short assessment, a defined piece of work, or an ongoing advisory relationship.

An ongoing arrangement

Fractional chief architect

The big decisions rarely arrive all at once. They are spread across the year and each builds on the last. With an architect who stays with you over time, they stay connected and you never have to start from scratch.

A defined monthly commitment and a seat at the table where decisions are made. The value builds over time, as decisions start to reinforce each other and your own people grow into the role.

More
Enterprise architecture and process

A clear picture of where the organisation is, where it needs to be, and the processes that connect both to the daily work.

More
Data and information architecture

One unified and agreed picture of the organisation's core information.

More
AI and agent readiness

An honest assessment of where you can safely apply AI agents, and what has to be in place first.

More
System selection, tenders and review

An independent read on a design, a proposal or a platform choice, from an architect who has built solutions like these, carried them through a decade of releases, and lived with every decision inside them.

For software houses and partners

Run a software house?

Every software house has its own circumstances and goals, but the fundamentals are the same: product architecture, roadmap, product operations, ALM and organisation. I have been responsible for many different products and know first-hand what it takes to develop and maintain a solution many customers depend on over the long term.

The work can be a defined engagement, such as a review of product architecture, roadmap or development process, mapping of customer journeys and business processes, an assessment of opportunities for automation or AI, or an ongoing role alongside product management and the development team. I work with software houses and with their customers, but never on both sides of the same engagement.

How we could work together

Initial architecture sparring

A conversation about where things stand, and an honest answer on whether I can help. 30–60 minutes, at no cost.

Second opinion

Example: Structured questions and a written view of the things that would change most. One to two days.

Analysis

Example: A focused answer to a specific question, with findings and recommendations. Two to six weeks.

Architecture engagement

Example: Target architecture, process descriptions and roadmap, through to a decision or a delivery-ready design. Two to six months.

Advisory retainer

Example: A defined monthly commitment with continuity of context. Ongoing.

Special assignments

Scoped to the situation, including short-notice reviews.

Does this sound familiar?

Where do things stand for you? The first conversation costs nothing and usually leaves the question clearer, whether or not it leads to a project.
